The RSA full form in insurance is Roadside Assistance. This insurance policy covers the mechanical failure of the vehicle and vehicle breakdown on the road or at home. RSA comes as part of the comprehensive car insurance policy in some car insurance companies. It can also be offered as an exclusive add-on insurance cover that can be opted at the discretion of the car owner.
What is covered under roadside assistance service?
If the vehicle is broken down on the road or at home, then the insurance agency will arrange for its repair, at the site of the breakdown. If the insured vehicle is involved in an accident, the company will arrange for towing it to the nearest garage. If the vehicle runs out of fuel, the insurance company will arrange for the delivery of five liters of fuel to be delivered. Other services that are covered for arrangement of a hotel stay, alternate vehicle, medical co-ordination, etc.
Exclusions for roadside assistance service:
If the vehicle is used for any illegal activities, the claim will be denied. The insurance company expects that driving to be done in accordance with the vehicle manual. The RSA claim will also be rejected if the repair is done without the permission of the insurer.
